Edmonton Journal - New traffic device slows down speeders
Transport Canada did some research where they hooked up GPS receivers to cars so that they were speed limited depending on where they were. The article muses that “one day” cars could require such a device.
It will never work: Besides the obvious points about sometimes needing the ability to speed to be safe, it would be ridiculously easy to find the GPS receiver and wrap it in tinfoil blocking it’s signal. If the car doesn’t know where it is, it can’t try to stop you from speeding.
Nice try, government douchebags. I wonder how much money was wasted on this “research”.
